Ramen Ichizu Bar
About This Spot
Ramen Ichizu Bar feels like stepping into a quietly vibrant corner of Salt Lake City where the hum of conversation blends effortlessly with the warm clatter of bowls and chopsticks. Its unassuming storefront and intimate interior invite you to slow down and settle into a place where the focus is on simple, honest connection—whether that’s with the food, fellow diners, or the chefs who bring genuine care to every bowl.
The atmosphere strikes a balance between lively and relaxed, a comfortable neighborhood haunt where the pace is set by the rhythm of shared meals rather than hurried service. You’ll notice moments of attentiveness and warmth from the staff, reflecting a respect for the craft and those who come to eat. It’s a space where patience feels rewarded, especially when a steaming bowl arrives, layered with delicate, thoughtfully balanced flavors that invite you to savor each sip and slurp.
Here, ramen is more than just a dish—it’s an experience marked by deep umami broths, pieces of tender pork or duck that melt into the background like old friends, and subtle spices that linger just long enough to keep you intrigued. The bar complements the bowls with a curated selection of drinks, some unexpected, adding their own story to the evening. A simple soda or a refreshing kombucha pairs in a way that feels both familiar and uniquely fitting.
What sets Ramen Ichizu apart is its commitment to authenticity without pretense. Behind the counter, you can sense the devotion to tradition and an openness to sharing that passion through occasional pop-ups with guest chefs from Japan — moments that bring a rare kind of closeness between kitchen and table. Those events have cultivated a quietly loyal following, not just for the flavors, but for the genuine human connection threaded through every visit.
Whether you’re lining up outside on a cool evening or ducking in for a casual meal, Ramen Ichizu offers a space that encourages you to slow down, listen, and appreciate the small, rich joys found in a thoughtfully crafted bowl and the welcoming energy that surrounds it.

By far the best ramen in the whole state! All these reviews complaining about the food or service have likely never been anywhere but Jinya or any whitewashed American ramen chain. The service has always been impeccable, and anyone complaining is likely expecting to be waited on hand and foot and are clearly in the wrong place with the wrong expectations. Ramen Ichizu always provides an authentic, seamless experience with genuinely some of the best food in the state at an extremely reasonable price for the hard work and effort that goes into every dish! You can taste the quality and love that goes into every bowl and drink and is absolutely worth waiting for since they make everything from scratch and to order.Truly couldn’t recommend them enough!

I have only gone twice for their break beats and ramen feel collaborations but the food was absolutely delicious. The service was exceptional and even though they were full they still kept an inviting and welcoming environment. The restaurant itself is very clean and has a comfortable feeling to it. This place has singlehandedly raised my standards for ramen. I can't wait to visit to try their regular menu!!

We went to Ramen Ichizu for their collab with Ramen Feel (ranked the #4 ramen chef in Japan!) and wow, it was unforgettable!! Yes, we waited in line outside for 3.5 hours, but it was absolutely worth every minute. The moment we stepped through the doors, the energy of the place was amazing. Both chefs personally greeted and thanked guests, which made it feel so special and welcoming. The service was fantastic, and we got lucky with counter seats where we could watch all the action in the kitchen. Such a cool experience. The food? Incredible. The vibe? Perfect. Honestly can’t wait to come back again.

We came for guest chef Daisuke Watanabe's collab pop-up with Ramen FeeL and it was incredible. The lines were long and reached capacity quickly but I thought they handled it very well, including counting the line multiple times to ensure they had enough bowls for everyone in line. They did have to turn people away once they reached capacity, but that's normal and expected at an event like this. We waited close to 4 hours in line but we came prepared and expected to wait that long given the popularity of the event. That being said: the food was incredible, genuinely the best ramen I've ever had, and I've had over 15 bowls in Japan. The soup was rich and flavorful, and the noodles were chewy, fresh, and delicious. The service team and staff were also very helpful and kind knowing that folks waited a long time. They checked on everyone in line throughout and paced the lunch service to ensure everyone had a good experience. Having this level of dining in Salt Lake is a genuine treat and I'm so glad that Ramen Ichizu is pushing the food scene here into the upper leagues and attracting this level of talent to collab with. Thank you for the incredible meal and I will be back soon and often!

For months, I’ve been meaning to share my love for Ramen Ichizu, a true gem in Salt Lake City’s dining scene. I’ve had the joy of witnessing their journey from a promising “soft opening” last summer to hosting exclusive pop-ups featuring some of Japan’s finest ramen chefs. Most recently, I braved a 3+ hour wait for their RamenFeel pop-up, that first bite made every second in line vanish from memory. It was that good. Ramen Ichizu consistently delivers excellence, using top-quality, locally sourced ingredients and crafting their noodles fresh in-house. Mike and his team have perfected every detail, creating bowls that are not only mouthwateringly delicious but also remarkably consistent with every visit. This place is a must for ramen lovers!

Went to the pop-up event with Chef Watanabe and it was INCREDIBLE!! I was first in line on Friday morning. Sorry but, you snooze, you lose. Anyone who is writing a negative review based on not being served for that day should offer up some grace and understanding. The amount of effort and hard work that goes into these events is unfathomable. Keep crushing!

Perfect spot for a casual date. Cozy lighting, amazing food, Me and partner went last night. The Bar upstairs is a different vibe with really good Cocktails. They have over 10 Japanese special order Sake, we tried the Elmo Fuji one, it was the best Sake I had in a while. They will be busy, be prepared and patient. There is only one bartender upstairs, she has to take the order and make the drink. So just be aware. But it was totally worth the wait, even the playlist of the music was really good. Something to vibe with.

I had the shoyu ramen today, and it was absolutely delicious! The broth was rich, savory, and perfectly balanced—not too salty, with a deep umami flavor that really hit the spot. The noodles had a great texture, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful, especially the tender chashu and perfectly cooked egg. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and thoughtfully prepared. It’s clear a lot of care goes into every bowl. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic, comforting ramen!
